Niakhar's young girls
Our experience in Senegal started in 1995 thanks to a meeting with "Case Depart", a small active Belgian association in Senegal.
Together, we took part in the renovation of Niakhar's health centre with cofinancing from the BADC.
Owing to our good links and relationship with female groups, coupled with the knowledge of their needs, we have focused our actions on the caring of young girls who are suffering from the problems associated with rural exodus.
The aim of these actions is to increase women's revenue capacities and their sources and to ease their integration into the socio-economic environment.
Our actions are focused on two areas:
Niakhar (40 villages)
Sine (20 villages)
Achievement 1
Manufacturing of solar pumps for Sine women. The aim of this is to equip 20 wells with solar pumps and a mini water distribution system enabling in this way to separate water provision for humans and animal, therefore contributing to the improvement of public health.
Achievement 2
Creation of a training centre for the promotion of the economic independence for young girls in the Niakhar region. On the one hand, it consists of setting up the necessary structure, providing technical support and practical training to young girls who are no longer in full time education and, on the other hand, giving more value to women's place in society.
